• Check Political Party, #Terms, VP Status and Century attributes to see what matched (=) and what didn't (≠). Use these for deductions.
• Also check revealed color of your guess.
  If it's Red, guess a alphabetically lower name.
  If it's Blue, guess a alphabetically higher name.
  If first few letters are Green, those are correct starting letters. Guess another name that starts with the same green letters.
  Gray letters provide no other clues.
  The exact match is found between the "hot" (red) and "cold" (blue) clues.

  Red is hot, go colder - move toward the beginning of the alphabet (towards A).

  Blue is cold, go warmer - move toward the end of the alphabet (towards Z).

• 🥚 The Egg indicates you missed a previous clue. Avoid getting many Eggs. Up to 7 Eggs (clue errors) are allowed in Practice Level, 5 Eggs in Challenge Level and no Eggs in Superpro Level.
• ⚡ indicates you missed a high voltage attribute clue. You lose as soon as you miss any clue for any high voltage attribute (marked ⚡).
• green flag indicates a good guess (clean with no Eggs).
• red flag indicates a wrong guess (one or more attributes with Eggs).
• red open envelope indicates you lost - actual name is revealed.
• Correct US President is revealed after 7th try (or if you match or lose early).
• A progress bar shows how close you are to the actual match.

Sample gameplay

Here is a sample gameplay. Based on first two guesses, the actual name should start alphabetically between M and T.

• Political Party - Republican, Democrat, Whig, etc
• #Terms - Number of terms served (full or partial)
• VP Status - Has been a VP? (true, false)
• Century - Century of first election
  ⚡ high voltage attribute. You lose as soon as you miss this clue.

• A Blue guessed name is alphabetically lower than the actual name. Move toward the end of the alphabet (towards Z) for next guess.
• Red guessed name is alphabetically higher. Move toward the beginning of the alphabet (towards A) for next guess.
• A Green guessed name indicates actual US President has this same first few green letters. Guess another name that starts with highlighted green letters.
• Color clues for 2nd letter are revealed after first letter is matched.
• Black letters reveal no clues. You can ignore them.
• Correct US President is revealed after 7th try (or if you lose or match or give up early).

• Type first 3 letters (4 letters in Pro/Superpro mode) of the guessed name. Don't type more than 7 letters if you want to use matching names list feature.
• Wait for the dropdown list of matching names to appear - don't submit yet. It typically takes less than a second, or a few seconds at most. If matching names list doesn't appear, try first 3 letters (4 if pro/superpro) of another name/spelling.
• Choose a name from the matching names list. Then hit Submit button.
• If matching names list doesn't appear for the letters you typed, it indicates no matching name was found. In that case, please try a different spelling or another name. Our database is constantly growing; some names may be missing temporarily.

Here is a sample matching names list.

• Share the face-off link with others so that they can join the game. Link expires in 15 minutes.
• Everyone who plays using the shared face-off link gets the same hidden name to guess. See who can guess it better.
• Your time starts when you make the first guess. You don't have to start at the same time as others.
• Each player can play the face-off game in the difficulty mode they choose. For example one player can play it in Practice mode while the other can play Pro mode.
• Compare your score with others to see who won the face-off.

🥚 The Egg indicates you missed a previously revealed clue.

There is a max limit on how many Eggs you can have before you lose in each level. Try to make the most of the clues - avoid getting many Eggs. More Eggs you get, the lower your score, even if you win.

It could be either a name clue (color highlighted letters) or attribute match clue that you missed. For example, if first letter of the name you guessed is highlighted blue M and your next guess starts with G, then you'll get the Egg for this error. Blue letters are colder - you should move toward the end of the alphabet (towards Z) for next guess.
